Bjoern is a fantastic teacher and also an exceptional practicing artist.  I've followed and admired his work for several years and was delighted to discover his mentoring course, which I immediately signed up for.

Bjoern was flexible with scheduling which was great.  The zoom calls consisted of answering questions/working through problems and thorough critiques/digital overpainting.  This was super helpful in demonstrating the techniques we discussed.

And, while I've been painting for several years, I learned an immense amount from him.  His careful, thoughtful tutoring helped me understand the blind spots in my work, with practical ways to recognize and move past them.

He never talked down during critiques, nor did he let me off the hook! His supportive, constructive instruction pushed me beyond my status quo.  He also has a remarkably clear way of describing complex painting issue.  In the short time we worked together, I've already seen my work improve.

Björn is a kind, thoughtful and dedicated teacher. I did an 8 week online mentorship session with him, and was lucky enough to study with him briefly in person.

Each of the 8 weeks I’d send him a few studies and we’d have an hour-long zoom call where he’d show up with detailed paint-overs and critiques. His feedback was always warmly delivered and tailored to my skill level. It was a good mix of low level (e.g. here’s how to make this piece better) and high level (e.g. I need to work on value compression and shape design).

He is such an incredible painter, and I feel like I learned more from him these 8 weeks than in any other painting class I’ve taken. If you’re motivated to paint and want to get better, but you’re not sure how, I can’t recommend Björn’s mentorship enough!

It's been a year since I started to learn oil painting with the great mentor Bjorn Wirtz. We were learning online, with the classical vibe. There were weekly assignments, work reviews, overpaintings, homework, reading, color charts, master studies - all you need to really dive deeply into oil landscape painting.

Recently I was lucky to have a week of painting boot camp in Volkach, Germany learning from Bjorn in person. (You can find a lovely accomondation literally just around a corner). Dayly painting for 6-7 hours in variouse locations with the guidance of Bjorn was the best art expirience I had so far.

Ich biete auch Einzelunterricht an, bei dem ich mich voll auf Ihren derzeitigen Wissensstand einstelle und so in der Lage bin, Sie bestmöglich beim Erreichen Ihrer Ziele zu unterstützen.

Wir würden meist zusammen draußen Plein Air Malen gehen. Dort lehre ich Sie Alles, was ich weiss über das einfangen, interpretieren und simplifizieren des Motivs. Dies erfolgt unter anderem über Mal-Demonstrationen, Vorträge über die fundamentalen Konzepte der Malerei sowie eigenes Unterrichts-Material in verschiedenen Formaten (PDF, Video etc.).

ONLINE

Das Mentoring ist vor stark Kritik-basiert und sowohl für Anfänger als auch für Fortgeschrittene geeignet, da ich mich individuell auf Ihren Stand einstelle.

• Die Dauer beträgt insgesamt 8 Wochen. Am Anfang bestimmen wir zusammen Ihren derzeitigen Stand und was Sie gerne mit dem Mentoring erreichen möchten. Es kann, muss aber nicht ein bestimmtes Ziel sein, wie z.B.: besser in der Plein Air Malerei werden, das Farbverständnis auffrischen, Komposition usw.
• Jede Woche halten wir ein einstündiges Video-Meeting, in dem wir Ihre Studien der vergangenen Woche besprechen. Ich bereite digitale Übermalungen Ihrer Arbeiten dazu vor, anhand derer ich die fundamentalen Konzepte der Malerei und des Sehens als Künstler erkläre.
• Außer dem Erhalt der digitalen Übermalungen nach jedem Meeting bekommen Sie auch Zugriff auf Lehrmaterial in Form von PDF und Video Dateien.
